Refugees have often been forced to leave their homes quickly, with little other than the clothes on their backs. This means that many Ritsona residents are fully dependent on resources within camp for seasonally and culturally appropriate clothing and shoes. As an AUA intern or chapter volunteer group, you’ll staff the “boutique” shop where residents use an equitably-set allocation of points to “purchase” clothes, shoes, and needed accessories each month. This set-up allows residents to shop for their own clothing, providing a sense of choice and agency at a time where much is out of residents’ control. Your work in the shop, and behind-the-scenes sorting through and stocking donations, helps uphold the dignity of residents during this critical time.
